SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

What is Shockwave?

When an injury occurs within your body, your body immediately implements its own healing mechanisms to help naturally repair and restore the tissue, bone, cells and other compromised areas affected by the injury.

When you experience chronic pain, your body is no longer recognizing that there is an injury to that area. As a result, it shuts down the healing process and no further relief is provided, leaving you in a constant state of pain.

The shockwave therapy provided by Shockwave Centers of America penetrates deep into your soft tissue, causing a microtrauma or new inflammatory condition to the treated area. This “new injury” triggers your body’s natural healing response once again. The energy emitted into the area also causes the cells in the soft tissue to release certain bio-chemicals that intensify the body’s natural healing process. These bio-chemicals allow for the building of an array of new microscopic blood vessels in the soft tissue.

The strong energy pulses that are applied to the affected area for short periods of time stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing. In many instances, shockwave therapy treatments have proven to be effective in cases where the

Physical Therapy

Injuries can happen at any moment—on the playing field, in the workplace, in your car or even in your own home. Without proper diagnosis and timely care, recovery can often become a slow and painful process. Physical therapy uses a variety of treatments and physical exercises to begin the rehabilitation process at the onset of injury or pain. Through these treatments and exercises, physical therapy can efficiently and effectively strengthen your body, reduce pain and prevent future injury.

When daily life is altered due to an injury, accident, chronic medical condition or re-injury, a physical therapist can help get you back to the activities you enjoy. You will be evaluated by a licensed physical therapist to determine range of motion, muscle strength, postural alignment and abnormalities in movement patterns, body mechanics and quality of movement with daily activities.

Following the results of your evaluation, a personalized plan of care will be designed to help you meet your individual recovery needs. Together, we will establish clear goals and begin treatment that will be most effective to your specific injury.

Work Injuries

Work injuries are not from serious accidents, but from overuse and repetitive stress injuries.  However, there are as many ways to injure yourself at work as there are different occupations, and none of them are very fun. The most important thing when dealing with a work-related injury is that you don’t leave it until it requires more serious intervention or leads to an untreatable problem.

Sports Injuries

We have specific training in evaluating and treating the injuries and ailments of athletes. We can treat an injured athlete more effectively than a medical doctor, who is not well versed in sports injuries. In addition to treating athletic injuries, we are skilled in aiding the athlete in injury prevention.

Chiropractic care closely relates to the needs of the athlete because special attention is given to the spine, joints, muscles, tendons, and nerves. Chiropractic ensures that all pieces of the musculoskeletal system are working in harmony and in their healthiest, most natural state.

Professional athletes see such a great value in chiropractic treatment that they regularly have chiropractic well visits to prevent injuries. If you are an athlete or weekend warrior, chiropractic care will enable you to reach peak performance, without breaking yourself.
